The Valley lost another long time resident recently. Robert N. "Bob" Blom was born December 21, 1923 to the late Charles and Lena (Yuthas) Blom. He was the last surviving sibling of 8 children. Bob passed away December 27, 2016 in Gering, NE where he had lived for the past few years.
In 1943 Bob joined the US Army and fought in World War II. In 1954 he married Imogene Phillips and they had two daughters, Sue Bauer and Mary Thompson. Bob worked for many years as a carpenter, then deciding it was time for a change, bought Maces Grocery. After selling the store and retiring, he returned to doing custom carpentry for valley residents, but mostly devoted himself to his dream house on 4 acres east of town where he could see the mountains and watch the wildlife.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 3 brothers, and his wife Imogene of 49 years. Survivors include his daughters, 4 grand children (Amanda (Bauer) Warembourg, Jacob Bauer, Peter Thompson, and Steven Thompson), 2 great-grandchildren (Lena and Conor Warembourg), and numerous neices and nephews.
Cremation has been conducted and the remains will be scattered during a private family gathering at a later date.
