According to Mira Miller, secretary of the Carbon County Library System Foundation (CCLSF), that organization will be holding a pair of fundraisers. All proceeds will go toward the CCLSF, which provides resources and material support to Carbon County libraries.
At 5:30 p.m. Oct. 28 there will be an $20 adult dinner theatre. The next morning there will be a $10 children’s lunch matinee at 11:30 a.m. Both events are at the Shrine Center at 5th and Pine Streets in Rawlins.
Miller said entertainment at the events will be provided by the Eastern Star.
The fundraisers’ theme is Mother Goose, in honor of the centennial anniversary of “The Real Mother Goose,” by Blanche Fisher Wright. Miller said Eastern Star will be performing fanciful renditions of the nursery rhymes in that book, to music ranging from country to calypso.
Costumes, dancing, singing, games and (for grown-ups Friday) themed drinks like a “Hickory-Daiquiri-Dock” will be part of the festivities, according to Miller. Whimsically named entrees and appetizers are also part of Friday’s dinner.
“It’s definitely not fancy, but I think that’s part of its charm,” Miller said of the event’s tone. Tickets can be purchased at the Rawlins Public Library, or at the door.
