Serving the Platte Valley since 1888

Box lunch, bag prizes

Best-selling author and celebrated Wyomingite C.J. Box will be making a stop in Saratoga Saturday to help the Saratoga Museum raise money through it's third annual C.J. Box trivia event. The trivia contest will feature questions about the women in Box's popular "Joe Pickett" series of whodunnits.

The fun begins 11 a.m. at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC), where the author will be available to sign books and greet fans. This portion of the day costs nothing.

There is no such thing as a free lunch, however. Those who pay $25 will be served fried chicken (a Joe Pickett favorite) at noon, half an hour before the trivia contest starts at 12:30. Teams of six can also save money by registering for $125. Price includes both lunch and the trivia contest.

Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams, and the winning contestants will get the opportunity to pose for a photo with Box. Bonus points in the contest will be awarded for dressing in character, so participants are encouraged to start working on their costumes before the big day.

For those who really want to give to the museum, and possibly appear in a Joe Pickett novel, Box will be offering the chance to be named in an upcoming work. Many of Box's books will be for sale at the event as well.

In order to ensure sufficient food is prepared, participants are encouraged to purchase their tickets prior to Saturday, or to RSVP by calling the Saratoga Museum at 307-326-5511.
