Jack T. "Bud" Knoell of Saratoga, Wyo. died June 1, 2016 in Rawlins, Wyo. He was 81. Bud was born in Fremont Nebraska on November 15, 1934. Bud is survived by his wife, Clara Mae (Quealy) Knoell of the family home; a daughter, Ramona Beach, and her husband, Jay of Rock Springs; four grandchildren, Andrew Apostolou and wife Katy, Tessa Beach, Griffin Beach and Hayden Beach; three great-grandchildren, Glenn, Thomas and Hayden; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Knoell of Torrington Wyoming; special cousin, Neva Richter of Kearney Nebraska; nieces, Bunny McComb and Jody Knoell; and numerous cousins.
At age 4 years, Bud was orphaned and moved to Lewellen, Nebraska where he grew up with his aunt and uncle, Lizzie and Wes Clark. He graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis, Nebraska in 1952. After graduation he moved to Encampment, Wyo. where he began life as a cowboy. On October 9, 1954, he married Clara Mae Quealy in Encampment. In 1964, Bud graduated from Western School of Auctioneering in Billings, Mont. As a part-time auctioneer, he frequently called bids around Carbon County. He continued to work on area ranches until 1974 when he began work as a heavy equipment mechanic in Hanna, Wyo. He retired in 2000 from Key Energy Services in Gillette, Wyo. Since retirement he lived on the banks of the North Platte River between Saratoga and Encampment with his wife.
Mr. Knoell was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherri Knoell in 2002; 2 brothers; one sister; and 3 cousins he grew up with.
Services will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016 at St. James Episcopal Church in Encampment, Wyo. Interment will follow in the Encampment Cemetery.
