Erickson to play on All-Star team

Guy Erickson has finished off his senior year at Encampment High School with a plethora of different athletic honors. Among these awards are All-State Golf, Three Trails Conference Basketball Player of the Year, All-State in Basketball, Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star Basketball Selection, Southwest District Student Athlete of the Year, Jake Clark Memorial Carbon County Athlete of the Year and Encampment Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Erickson will be off to the University of Wyoming in the fall, where he figures he will end up playing on at least one intramural team.

He played basketball for the Encampment Tigers during all four years of high school, and head coach Clint Bromley said fondly of Erickson that he was a leader for the team. This year, the boys' basketball team ended as 1A State Consolation Champs.

Erickson applied for the athlete of the year honors and ended up co-winning among Carbon County Male Athletes of the year and Southwest District Student Athlete of the Year. Though he is graduating, he will be the All-Star Basketball Team, representing southern Wyoming. The team, comprised of students from the southern half of the state, will go up against their northern counterparts July 23 at Casper College.

According to Bromley at the E-Club banquet, Erickson has said he would be happy just to score a point in that game. With his record, fans can expect the Tiger alum will hold his own on the team.
