Construction has begun on HWY 230, north of Encampment. The project will be similar to what Platte Valley residents saw north of Saratoga on 130 last summer, as a mill and overlay project.
The construction is contracted by McGarvin-Moberly Construction out of Worland, and according to president Phil Caines, the group will start with a contractor this week to grind the top two inches off the road. The shoulder work drivers have seen will use a rotor mill to create a safety slope.
Weather permitting, the workers should conclude by June 1 and then apply a chip seal. Until then, drivers can expect delays up to 20 minutes during the milling and paving stages, which should each last about 2 weeks. While the paving and sealing depends on temperature, the milling work can be done even if the temperature drops, Caines said.
