Serving the Platte Valley since 1888
Local sportsmen hope to bring a chapter of Ducks Unlimited back to Saratoga.
The Ducks Unlimited website says the organization is the world’s largest and most effective wetlands and waterfowl conservation.
The group utilizes a series of partnerships with private individuals, landowners, agencies, scientific communities and other entities to accomplish their conservation goals.
“There used to be a chapter in Saratoga about 10 to 12 years ago,” according to Joe Parsons, the new chapter’s chairman, “and we would really like to resurrect the Saratoga Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.”
To that end, Parsons has recruited Saratoga locals Steve Fletcher, Mark Pesognelli and Shawn O’Toole as initial members but quickly adds that “anyone interested in serving on the organization committee should contact (him).”
There will be a Ducks Unlimited “Bar Night” Saturday at the Saratoga Resort and Spa. The event will feature appetizers, door prizes and a live and silent auction of several guns.
Parsons adds, “Numerous members of the Laramie Chapter are coming to help with the event.”
The Ducks Unlimited event will be held 5 p.m. Saturday, April 16 at the Saratoga Resort and Spa. Tickets are $25 per person and $40 a couple.
