Change of scenery

Engineering Associates moved from its old offices on East Bridge Avenue in Saratoga to a new location at 211 N. First Street last week.

The company’s new offices are smaller than their previous office on Bridge Street, but it is a more efficient space for the employees, said Karl Smith, an employee at the company. Smith also said that parking was at a premium at the old office on Bridge Street. Ken Schwerdt, who also works at the company, said parking during the summer was particularly bad and that the company has a lot of trucks that used to take up a lot of parking spots in front of businesses downtown.

The new building required weeks of renovations to be ready for move in, Schwerdt said, noting that they had been working on it for about two months.

The building needed electrical work, new lighting fixtures and new telecommunications wiring, as well as a new ceiling, new flooring and paint all around, Schwerdt said.

The employees are still getting used to their new office and are still finishing up some projects. Susan Lane of the company said at some point Engineering Associates was planning an open house, but was not yet sure when it would be.
