Panthers start off fresh

Saratoga Track and Field Head Coach Rex Hohnholt doesn’t yet know who stand-out competitors will be this season, but he has confidence that the strong bunch of athletes will succeed over the season.

Their first meet is coming up this weekend in Casper at the Glen Legler Invite, which will have stiff competition. Hohnholt looks forward to what should be a fun meet for the competitors, giving them experience with track and figuring out which relay teams will be successful. It’s one of two track meets in the state this weekend, so there will be many 3A and 4A schools to shake things up for the Panthers.

“We’re going to focus on improvement instead of placing,” Hohnholt said.

While there aren’t many returning state placers this year, Hohnholt still expects the athletes to be competitive over the course of the season.

“I think we’re pretty well rounded,” Hohnholt said, adding that there are some that don’t know exactly where they want to be yet, but he looks forward to seeing how it will shake out.

The Panthers take off this weekend for Casper, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
