Warmed to the glow of electric fireplaces

Saratoga Care Center

The facility’s activity program is based on residents’ interests and allows residents to achieve greater self-esteem. It provides continuing contact with the community because of the many volunteers that assist residents in activities.

We received three electric fire places that we had ordered, using donations from the community. Our Maintenance Director has installed two—one at the end of the hallway in the A-wing and one in the front resident lounge area.

Games provided fun and laughter throughout the week. On Sunday afternoon, four residents played Dominoes with Pat Rust winning. On Monday afternoon, five residents played Yahtzee with Pat Rust winning. On Wednesday and Friday afternoons, residents played Bingo. Barbara Reed, Carol Higby, Pat Rust and Koreen Spoon won Four Corners. Pat Rust and Koreen Spoon won Blackouts. Volunteers at Bingo were Lila Worden, Gloria Rakness, Dawna Erickson, Elder Maake and Elder Fraser. On Thursday morning, four residents played Dominoes with Mary Charlton winning. On Saturday, residents played Blackjack.

For exercise, residents did Wii Bowling on Sunday and Saturday mornings and Sittercise on Monday and Friday mornings.

For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, three residents had baked pork chops on Monday, and three residents had baked fish on Friday.

Evenings, residents enjoyed the no-commercial movie channel.

On Tuesday afternoon, residents watched “Return to Snowy River”, and had popcorn.

On Saturday morning, four residents went on a van ride around Saratoga Lake to see the Ice Fishing Derby with Anita Mills, our administrator.

On Sunday, Pastor Scott Stinson led church. Terry Hicks offered the sermon. Doris Davis played traditional religious music.

On Wednesday morning, seven residents had their hair done, and 11 residents had their fingernails done by Georgia Schroer, Kathy McMorrow and Janice Kerpan.

On Wednesday during supper, Teense Willford sang and played guitar for residents.

On Thursday afternoon, the Saratoga Presbyterian Deacons hosted the monthly birthday party. We celebrated the birthday of Truth Karstoft with ice cream and cake.

On Saturday, residents enjoyed the Ice Cream Social.

We need small stuffed animals and other prizes for Bingo.

We appreciate the continued support of our volunteers. Anyone wanting to become a volunteer, please contact Tom Mansfield, Activity Director, at the facility
