This weekend, sheriff badges with black bands around them were showing up on Facebook in remembrance of Carbon County Sheriff’s Office Patrolman Derrek Craig.
Craig died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home in Rawlins in the early morning hours of Jan. 13.
Craig had worked for the sheriff’s office for 10 years. Prior to working at the sheriff’s office, we was the Chief of Police in Encampment.
Colson said Craig was the type of person who always put service to the citizens of Carbon County first and never hesitated to what needed to be done to get the job done.
“He will greatly missed by all who knew and worked with him,” Colson said.
The Rawlins Police department is conducting the investigation.
A celebration of life is to to be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at the Meeteetse High School in Meeteetse, Wyo.
