Council passes ordinance restricting mobile homes

Dog and cat clinic on Jan. 23

At their Jan. 14 meeting, the Encampment Town Council passed ordinance 17.36.020(h) on its third public reading. The ordinance restricts future mobile home placement to established mobile home parks with the exception of existing mobile homes which shall be considered legal non-conforming structures.

As the Riverside Town Council did earlier in the evening, the Encampment council signed a letter written by Carbon County Deputy Attorney Ashley Mayfield asking the town of Medicine Bow to accept the proposed South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Service Joint Powers Agreement amendment as written.

The town of Encampment announced the Ninth annual Rabies and Dog Licensing Clinic. Dogs and cats will be welcomed into the foyer of the Encampment Town Hall for the clinic from 9 a.m. to noon on Jan. 23. This is a joint event with the town of Riverside and the Carbon County Veterinary Hospital will provide the veterinary staff.

In financial matters, the Encampment council approved expenditures of $1,500 for an irrigation outfall project, $2,485 for Sierra Madre Winter Carnival prize money, $5,177 for a water plant maintenance contract and $2,579.35 for a new cemetery lowering device. The council discussed the fact that the water plant contract is expensive but pays for itself quickly if there is a problem. The town is also pursuing a contract with Jake Clayton, a Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter for the 10th annual Music in the Park.

Based on its initial success, Encampment will continue its firewood sale at the sawmill. Those who have already purchased firewood permits will be allowed to take two more loads for the price they have already paid. New permit applicants will be allowed three loads of wood.

The next Encampment Town Council regular meeting will be at 7 p.m., Feb. 11 in the Encampment Town Hall.
