The Encampment Lady Tigers started the new year off with a win against the Laramie Sophomores 55-35.
It was a typical coming out of break game, Encampment’s head coach Amy Clay said. At half time, the Tigers were up 28-21. By the third quarter, they came in swinging, Clay said. They outscored the Plainsmen 17-5.
Clay said it is difficult to prepare playing against the Laramie Sophomores, because the team literally changes from year to year.
The Lady Tigers came prepared to play a zone defense and ended up playing a man defense.
Noelle Peterson was the top scorer for the game, hitting 85.7 percent. She scored 20 points for the team and had nine rebounds.
Alyssa Barkhust scored 16 points and had seven rebounds. Konnar Knotwell had 8 points and grabbed six rebounds. Paige Powell scored 6 points and had four rebounds, while Hailey Barkhurst added 4 points to the scoreboard. Cassidy Little added 3 points and had two rebounds with McKenzie Powell scoring 2 points.
Miciah Pantle got in 1 point.
The Lady Tigers host Cokeville at 4 p.m. on Friday, and then Farson Eden on Saturday at noon.
