Margaret Alice Payne, 85, of Cheyenne, Wyo., passed away early Monday morning, Dec. 21, 2015, with her family at her side.
Margaret was born July 22, 1930, in Wheatland, Wyo., a daughter of the late Orvel L. and Edith F. (Hoffman) Bridgmon.
Margaret married Charles R. Payne on Aug. 13, 1949, in Kimball, Neb. They resided in Cheyenne until 1972 then moved to Laramie. After retirement they ran “The Place” near Ten Mile, close to Saratoga, Wyo., for several years; after that they returned to live in Cheyenne.
Margaret worked as a bookkeeper in both Cheyenne and Laramie.
Margaret is survived by four children, Charles “Chuck” (Dr. Patricia) Payne of Brighton, Colo., Russell (Karen) Payne of Laramie, Zoe (Steve) Curtright of Laramie, and John (Dusty) Payne of Cheyenne; a sister, Mildred Lawrence of Shawnee Mission, Kan .; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grand children.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Charles R. Payne; a brother, George Bridgmon, and a sister Marion Vogt.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
A memory service will be conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home with The Reverend Rhett Ivey officiating.
An interment service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Schrader Reception Center.
