Good eats and carols at Christmas party

The facility had our annual Resident Christmas Party on Thursday with 27 guests showing up. Our Dietary Department provided a terrific dinner. Kathy McMorrow, my Activity Assistant, made the desserts. Teense Willford and Ray Bernal sang and played several Christmas carols. The Encampment Community Church sang Christmas carols. Santa Claus, aka Jeff Streeter, passed out presents to every resident which were purchased and wrapped by the Kiwanis.

On Sunday morning, three residents played Dominoes with Pat Rust winning. Bethany Manley, Our Dietary Manager, led the game. On Sunday afternoon, five residents played Blackjack with Doc Alexander winning. Our Social Services Director, Jake Mickelsen, led the game.

On Tuesday morning, four residents played Yahtzee with Doc Alexander winning. For Bingo, Marjery McAulay, Pat Rust, Kenny Hoagland, Elaine Burge, and Carol Higby won Four Corners. Carol Higby and Barbara Reed won Blackouts in Bingo. Volunteers at Bingo were Lila Worden, Dawna Erickson, Gloria Rakness, Elder Coleman, and Elder Maake. On Thursday morning, residents played Uno with Pat Rust winning. Our Social Services Director, Jake Mickelsen, led the game.

Sunday afternoon, Pastor Gene Smith of the Platte Valley Christian Center led church. Doris Davis played Christmas music.

On Wednesday morning,three residents had their hair done, and nine residents had their fingernails done by Georgia Schroer, Merlynn Hoopes, and Janice Kerpan.

On Friday, three residents had roast beef and birthday cake for Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center.

We wish to thank the Encampment Senior Center Thrift Shop for the very kind donation for the Resident Christmas Party on Thursday. We also want to acknowledge the anonymous gift of three cases of soda for Bingo prizes. Additionally, we wish to thank Dr. Dean and Tonya Batholomew for the kind financial donation for resident Christmas presents. We also want to thank the Platte Valley Christian Center for loan of four long tables and 32 chairs for our Resident Christmas Party.
