Housekeeping in Encampment

The regular meeting of the Encampment Town Council on Dec. 10 was largely filled with the approval of expenditures and accounting matters.

The hydrant and valve replacement project has been completed for the 2015 year and the council approved moving the reserves of $8,115.68 in to the proper account. The annual service contracts for the senior center and the FCCLA-Pro-Start, totaling $1,750, were approved at the council meeting. The council also voted to keep the towns sponsorship of the Platte Valley Arts council at $200 per year.

The re-roofing of the Encampment Opera House is to be funded from the reserves held for the opera house. The roof has been fixed and town clerk Doreen Harvey reported that public works has been fixing interior damage to the opera house after the roof leaked.

Encampment will provide additional compensation to thank its employees and committee representatives. Employees will receive a $350 bonus and committee will receive $50 through the hometown certificate process.

In a continuation of a proposed zoning change, the second reading of proposed Ordinance 17.36.020(h), regarding building types and uses in the business district, was approved by the council. The council also approved a conditional use permit to allow 1102 McCaffrey Ave. to be used as a vacation rental. The abandonment of an unused tap at 419 Rankin Ave. was approved by the council with the condition that the owner repurchase the tap if they want to use it in the future.

The next regular meeting of the Encampment Town Council will be at 7 p.m., Jan. 14 at the Encampment Town Hall.
