Serving the Platte Valley since 1888
Peter E. “Bud” Kamp, 94 passed away peacefully Oct. 5, 2015 at Life Care Center at Greeley, Colo. Bud was born June 17, 1921 to Louis William Kamp and Ismay Izette (Cram) Kamp.
Bud grew up on the Little Medicine Ranch homesteaded by his grandparents Peter L. and Mariem Kamp. Ranching was what Bud knew from growing up in the Little Medicine Bow River area of Albany County.
Later in life he and his late sister, Illa Loyd, bought the ranch at Walcott, Wyo., and ran that ranch until it was sold in 1998.
Bud and Illa bought the Bosler Ranch north of Laramie and other pasture land to the east in Albany County and ran cows on it for several years. Over the years parts of that land were sold off, but what remains in Albany County has a conservation easement placed on it with the Wyoming Stockgrowers Ag Land Trust.
One of the last old cowboys in Wyoming, Bud rode a lot of miles from Little Medicine to Medicine Bow and Tullis (west of Saratoga) to Walcott. His word was his bond and a hand shake made the deal.
Bud was predeceased by his grandparents, parents and sister, Illa.
Bud is survived by his longtime friend Norma Beamer. of Eaton, Colo., and her children and grandchildren, of Colorado and Nebraska, as well as cousins who reside in Laramie.
A private graveside service has taken place at Bud’s request.
Arrangements were handled by Stoddard Funeral Home.
Cards may be sent to Norma Beamer, PO Box 395, Eaton, CO 80615
