Cookie Month is here

Wyoming President set to visit local Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Auxiliary met Sept. 15 at the American Legion Post. Five members attended.

President Fran Payne Rogers presented a video about the events leading up to and the story behind the writing of the Star Spangled Banner.

Carrie Craig took over duties of the Chaplain for the unit.

Members were reminded that the Department of Wyoming President for American Legion Auxiliary will make her official visit Nov. 7 at noon. There will be a lunch served during her visit. Details will be worked out at the October meeting.

Also, members are reminded that October is cookie month for our unit. We need to bake lots of cookies for the veterans at the Cheyenne VA facility. They really appreciate those cookies. Cookies can be taken to Fran at Do It Best Lumber or the American Legion Post by Oct. 20.

All auxiliary members are urged to pay their dues as soon as possible. It is much easier to get it done now, instead of waiting until later and then getting it forgotten.

The unit will be holding food raffles starting in October. They will take place on Friday nights about 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Post. You can purchase tickets all week from a member for $2 each and you don’t have to be present to win. Some of the items to be raffled will be breads, pies, cheesecakes, salsa and closer to the holidays, we will be raffling smoked turkeys and other holiday goodies. This project is to raise money for the veterans at the VA facilities for their Christmas. Anyone wishing to participate in in this project, may contact Fran at (307) 710-3127.

Our next meeting will be Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Post Home.
