The Saratoga Cross Country team went to Fort Collins, Colo. for the John Martin Invitational over the weekend and overall saw some improvments from their times at the Liberty Bell invitational on Sept. 11.
While Jeremy Detterer, the front runner for boys’ varsity over the past few weeks, did not have a score listed, Gage Bartlett took the lead running the 5k in 19 minutes, 18 seconds. Bartlett was second of the Saratoga boys runners last week with a time of 19:25. Aaron Kerbs, also usually one of the top four boys for Saratoga, improved his time by 15 seconds. Spencer Knotwell showed a gain of 20 seconds from 20:08 to 19:48.
The girls varsity overall improved their times as well, with Ashlynn Johnson placing 19th overall, running the 5k in 22:17, shaving seven seconds off of her time at the last meet. Cruz Escobedo improved 53 seconds from the Liberty Bell Invitational, running a 25:50. Bel Oiler showed the most improvement of the girls, running a 28:28 this week as opposed to last week’s 31:06.
