Police Department to crack down on traffic laws

According to mayor Ed Glode, the police department has been more vigilant in enforcing traffic laws.

“We’ve been having a lot more pulling over and citations recently.” Motioning to Bridge Avenue, Glode said when trucks—illegal on this street—are driving down at 40 miles per hour, things need to change.

“It’s just a full transition from not doing much enforcing at all, to slowing everybody down,” Glode said. “We have been in a state of non-compliance in a pretty large fashion.”

At the last Saratoga/Carbon County Impact Joint Powers Board, service fees for vacant land was discussed. According to Glode, that issue is not one taking precedence right now. “I don’t like raising a whole bunch of different rates at one time,” Glode said. “We just did an overhaul on how we bill sewer and that was an eight-month controversy and now we’re to the water and sewer taps and there are two sides to that story.”

While Glode was satisfied overall with the steering committee meeting with Community Builders, Inc. about Saratoga’s Master Plan, the conference call technology made things somewhat difficult. However, according to Glode, this option is better than paying necessary parties for travel time. Results from surveys distributed at the Party on the Platte will be evaluated at the Master Plan Steering Committee meeting in October.
