Sam Platts, formerly of Saratoga, will make a homecoming on Friday at the Saratoga Resort and Spa.
Platts' band, Sam Platts and the Kootenai Three, are currently in the process of recording a new album which should be out in the next year. "We'll be playing some new stuff," Platts said of his concert.
Born and raised in the Platte Valley, Platts has been all around the world now, stating that he spent time touring around China and Australia this spring. Now Platts lives in Pony, Mont. and works full-time as a musician, playing guitar in other bands when he has time off from the Kootenai three.
According to Platts, his music remains in the Western honky tonk genre. Throughout his travels, Platts said that France was his favorite, saying "Nice place, nice people, the music's well received."
Over the past couple years, Platts has been learning and perfecting the accordion to add to his music. "It's kind of a lost art, you could say. (It) Adds kind of a different texture to the music."
