Lots going on in Encampment

I hope everyone had a good weekend and enjoyed some of the festivities. I enjoyed listening to the music and poetry at the Cowboy Gathering. Events coming this weekend are WhatFest in Riverside and the Mountainman Rendezvous at the Museum grounds. We had 40 people for our evening meal. It was good to see everyone. I hope to see more smiling faces at next month’s dinner. As always, the coffee group kept us up to date. My thanks to Ellie Behrmann, Arleigh Simmons, Patty Herring, Connie Beckham, Jo Bonnett, Karen Dibbern, Laura Rettelle, LaDawn Vorn, Linda York and Nancy Lynch.

Our dedicated Dominoers this past week were Shelia and Joe Remick, Dot Severns, Madeline and Bill Telfer, Grace Bowyer, Sharon Pratt, Joann Adams and Jean Eachus. Winners were Shelia, Joe and Dot. The Quilting Bees were busy on Thursday, they include Nancy Lynch, Lila Walbye, Karen Casson, Sandy Miller and Jo Roberson. Those ladies are working on a very nice fall leafed quilt by Karen Casson, if you get the chance, stop in and take a look. We did have two tables of Bridge this past Wednesday. Those talented card players included Sheila Johnson, MaryLou Noton, Alice Stewart, Paula Harris, Millie Parker, Whitey Stewart, Marianne Blue, Rosemary Craighead and Vivian Campbell. Jo Roberson and Joe Remick have put in some time getting the puzzle put together so we can move onto a different one. We will be having blood pressures taken by Virginia Parker Wednesday, July 29 at 11:30 a.m. A look into the following week includes our Annual Community Yard Sale on Aug.1 as well as the Encampment Community BBQ at the Park. The parking lot of the Senior Center will be open to anyone who would like to load their truck or car with items to sell and the sale will start at 8 a.m. It is with great gratitude to personally say “thank you” to everyone who has welcomed me into this new position at the Center. I look forward to serving you for many years to come.
