Valley celebrates Independence Day

The Fourth of July is an exciting time to be in the Valley. There will be activities for all age groups during the holiday weekend of July 3-5, including the annual parade and fireworks show.

All these activities on Independence Day allow the community to stay together and have all sorts of things to do. One event in particular, Togie Days, is being brought back to Saratoga for the Fourth of July.

Togie Days is one of the events on the Fourth that is unique this year. From 2 -- 6 p.m. you can enjoy live music in downtown Saratoga provided by local acts as well as recording artist Bobby Chitwood. Jessica Andrews, an up-and-coming talent, will headline the show.

With so many things happening on Saturday, the businesses and organizations in town needed to work around each other’s schedules to let townspeople attend multiple events, which is exactly what they did. Joe Elder, Executive Director at the Platte Valley Community Center, gave some insight on the collaboration. “The American Legion agreed to move their barbecue over to the Khe Sahn West American Legion Park over by Lollypops and Bobby Chitwood’s band is going to play at the Saratoga Resort & Spa Friday night,” said Elder.

The community has worked hard to get the events scheduled for everybody. It will be an exciting Independence Day weekend in Saratoga.
