As of June 1, 2015, Health Management Services (HMS), a Montana-based corporation, took over this facility. It has a three-year lease with an option to buy. Since HMS already has another facility named Valley View Nursing Home, we are now Saratoga Care Center. We expect most of the residents who left the facility for other places to return, many of them during the week beginning June 1st. Happy days are here again.
The facility’s Activity program is based on residents’ interest and allows residents to achieve a greater level of self-esteem which enables them to perform their Activities of Daily Living at a higher level. Further, it provides residents with continuing contact with the community because of the many volunteers that assist residents as they enjoy activities at the facility.
Games provide laughter and socialization during the week. On Sunday afternoon, residents played Dominoes with Pat Rust winning. On Monday afternoon, residents played Yahtzee with Truth Karstoft winning. On Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoons, we played Bingo. Nadine Caleb won Four Corners. Pat Rust won Blackout. Our volunteers were Lila Worden, Sue Bartlett, Elder Palmer and Elder McConneghey. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.
Movies provided entertainment for residents throughout the week. In the evening residents may watch the Turner Classic Movies channel. On Tuesday afternoon, residents watched a VCR movie and had popcorn.
For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, three residents had hot turkey sandwiches on Friday.
On Sunday and Saturday mornings, residents played Wii Bowling.
On Sunday afternoon, Doris Davis stood in for Pastor Arlen Hughes of the Abundant Life Fellowship for our church service. She also played traditional religious music on the keyboard.
On Wednesday, several residents had their hair and their finger nails done by Merlynn Hoopes, Kathy McMorrow, and Janice Kerpan.
On Saturday afternoon, residents enjoyed the Ice Cream Social.
We greatly appreciate the continued support of our volunteers throughout the week. They are an integral part of the Activity Program. Anyone wishing to become a volunteer, please contact Tom Mansfield, Activity Director, at the facility.
