Alternative Development Underway for Travel Management Project

The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) had begun to develop alternative actions for the West Side Snowy Range Travel Management Project; which is the next step in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process.

Alternatives will be derived from the initial proposed action and from the more than 250 public comments that were received regarding the proposal. The alternatives will be analyzed within the Environmental Assessment that should be released later this summer.

Melanie Fullman, District Ranger of the Brush Creek/Hayden Ranger District, is continuing to meet with the public regarding this project. “It is important that we find appropriate, long-term solutions to the issues at hand with this project, said Fullman. “First we need to come to some conclusions regarding the future of our road and trail system. After those decisions have been made, then we can look into collaborative ways to implement maintenance of that system.”

Ranger Fullman is available to answer questions or discuss the project at the District office number (307) 326-5258, or via email, [email protected]. Interested parties can also stop by the BCH District office at 2171 S. Highway 130 in Saratoga between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
