Easter week activities

At Deseret Health and Rehab, quality of life is an important concern. The facility’s Activity Program is based on residents interest and allows residents to achieve a greater level of self-esteem which enables them to perform their Activities of Daily Living at a higher level. Further, it provides residents with continuing contact with the community because of the many volunteers that assist residents as they enjoy activities at the facility.

Games provide laughter and socialization during the week. On Sunday morning, residents played Wii Bowling. On Sunday afternoon, five residents played Dominoes with Pat Rust winning. On Monday afternoon, six residents played Yahtzee with Pat Rust winning. On Wednesday afternoon, 11 residents played Bingo, and Friday afternoon, 11 resident played Bingo. Kenny Hoagland, Nadine Caleb, and Russell Cox won Four Corners. Kenny Hoagland and Pat Rust won the Blackout. Our volunteers were Lila Worden, Joy Hamilton, Elder McConneghey, and Elder Palmer. On Friday morning, residents played Blackjack.

Movies provided entertainment for residents throughout the week and the weekend. In the evening residents watched the Turner Classic Movies channel.

On Tuesday afternoon, four residents watched “The Man from Snowy River” and had popcorn as they watched the movie.

On Sunday afternoon, Reverend Miki Laws led our church service. Doris Davis played traditional religious music on the keyboard.

On Tuesday mornings, residents filled the 500 plastic eggs with candy for the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday afternoon.

On Wednesday morning, seven residents had their hair done, and 11 residents had their finger nails done by Janice Kerpan, Georgia Schroer, Alissa Schroer and Kathy McMorrow.

On Thursday afternoon, residents dyed eggs in Arts and Crafts to be put on residents’ trays at breakfast on Easter morning.

On Saturday afternoon, we had our annual Easter Egg Hunt in our courtyard for kids of the valley. After all the boisterous fun, the kids and residents had ice cream.

We greatly appreciate the continued support of our volunteers throughout the week. They are an integral part of the Activity Program. Anyone wishing to become a volunteer, please contact Tom Mansfield, Activity Director, at the facility.
