Easter Sunday is April 5, and along with it comes many celebrations throughout the Platte Valley.
Several churches are having special services, while others are having an Easter sermon during regular service times.
Three public Easter Egg Hunts are planned for children in the Platte Valley on Saturday.
Thursday services
At 5:30 p.m., Thursday St. Ann’s Catholic Church is hosting Holy Thursday with Mass.
At 6 p.m., Thursday, the Encampment Presbyterian Church is having a Candlelight Last Supper service. Rev. Miki Laws said a simple meal will be served in the fellowship hall as the story of Jesus’ last meal with his disciples is told.
The Saratoga Presbyterian Church is having communion during Maundy Thursday at 7 p.m.
Friday services
On Friday, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church is the location for the Platte Valley Ministerial Association’s Good Friday Service at noon. Services will include meditation, prayer and music on featuring the “Seven Last Words of Jesus”.
A Holy Week Seder Meal begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening at St. Barnabas in the church parsonage, said Rev. Susan Dyer.
Good Friday Services begin at 5:30 p.m., with the Veneration of the Cross at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Good Friday Services begin at 7 p.m., at Platte Valley Lutheran Church.
Easter Services for the Abundant Life Church is at 7 p.m. Friday.
Saturday events
St. Ann’s Easter Vigil is at 9 a.m. Saturday.
At 10 a.m. Saturday, the Saratoga Resort and Spa is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt featuring the Easter Bunny. Parents and Children are asked to line up outside the west gate at the Resort and Spa. The hunt is for children 12 and under.
Also at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Encampment/Riverside Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Rick Martin Memorial Park in Riverside. Areas are roped off for the different age groups of preschool through sixth grade.
Saturday, Deseret Health and Rehab will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt in the courtyard at the nursing home. Guests are asked to come through the front door and gather in the dining room. An ice cream social is hosted by Deseret after the hunt. The Easter Egg Hunt begins at 2 p.m.
Sunday services
A sunrise service will be held at 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Hosted by the Christian Community Church north of Encampment, the service will take place at Grandview Park in Encampment.
The Platte Valley Lutheran Church in Saratoga is hosting an Easter breakfast at 8:30 a.m., with Easter Services at 10 am.
Sunday morning Easter Services at St. Barnabas begins at 9 a.m.
Morning Mass at St. Ann’s Catholic Church is at 9 a.m.
The Platte Valley Community Church Assembly of God is hosting an Easter breakfast at 9 a.m. Sunday School follows at 10 a.m., with Sunday worship at 11 a.m.
Easter Sunday services for the Saratoga Presbyterian Church begin at 9:30 a.m., and includes communion.
The Saratoga Alliance Church is hosting a “Come As You Are” Easter Service at the Platte Valley Community Service. Refreshments are at 9:30 a.m., with services at 10 a.m.
Easter services at Foothills Baptist Church in Encampment begin at 10 a.m.
Easter services begin at 10 a.m., at the Ride on Faith Ministries south of Saratoga. The Sunday service is through noon and is followed by lunch at the church.
The Encampment Presbyterian Church will have an Easter Worship Service at 10 a.m., featuring traditional hymns.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Saratoga will have Sunday Sacrament at 10 a.m., followed by an Easter Drama Message and Lord’s Supper at 11 a.m.
Regular services for the First Baptist Church in Saratoga are at 11 a.m., with an Easter sermon.
