The entire Saratoga Panthers wrestling
team qualified for state at regionals last
Saturday.
Daynon Mowry and Thatcher Spiering
finished second at 126 and 145 respectively
and earned All Conference, an especially
big honor considering that unlike basketball
and other sports where All Conference
is voted on by coaches, the wrestlers have
to place in the top two at regionals to earn
that honor.
Jaxon King, finally back from a shoulder
injury, finished third with a win by fall
over Cole Cook from Moorcroft; Thomas
Ingraham and Chaze Wiant placed third
in their weight classes and Kyle Bartlett
finished fourth.
Wyatt Carricato, Marshal Hill, and
Hunter Mason will join their teammates to
compete Friday and Saturday at state in
Casper. "We've been dealing with everyone
being sick the last few weeks so we're really
looking forward to a good couple days
of practice," head coach Jared Mason said.
Monday's practice was relaxed and energetic,
but the team was reminded, "At this
point in the year all of your records are basically
thrown out and every year there is a
major upset in the first round," Mason said.
The Panthers placed well enough to control
their own destiny for the most part. The one
exception is Carricato, who will once again
face the number one seed Kole Schell from
Moorcroft in the first round.
