The Encampment Lady Tigers (1-2, 1A Southwest, 11-6 overall) basketball team leapt to victory over the Rock River Longhorns (7-10) on Saturday in a non-conference game that was decided 56-40 with Alyssa Barkhurst leading the way with 16 points, five rebounds and seven assists.
The rest of the team was right behind her with Cassidy Little bringing in 14 points, four assists; Konnar Knotwell with 13 points; McKenzie Powell with 8 points, Courtney James with 5 points and Baily Miller with 1 point. The Lady Tigers shot 60 percent from the field and had 18 assists on 24 made baskets. Head coach Amy Clay commended her team. “I’m pleased with the way we are playing team basketball and doing our jobs,” Clay said.
The Lady Tigers will host the Farson-Eden Lady Pronghorns and the Cokeville Lady Panthers this weekend in the homecoming match.
The Lady Tigers squeaked past the Lady Pronghorns last time they met on the Pronghorns home court, but the Lady Tigers have a few more wins under their belt, while the Lady Pronghorns have no wins in the 1A Southwest conference and have only won three of their 13 games overall.
The real challenge will be Saturday against Cokeville, which is undefeated in the 2A Southwest Conference.
The Lady Tigers play the Farson-Eden Lady Pronghorns at 4 p.m. Friday and at the Cokeville Lady Panthers at noon Saturday.
