Serving the Platte Valley since 1888
Lois Darlene Rupert, 83, of Dillon, Colo., since 1966 passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at her home in Dillon. She was born on Aug. 6, 1933 in San Diego, Calif. to Milford and Ila Rupert, who have gone ahead.
Californian by birth and Coloradoan by choice, Lois spent her youth going to the Saturday matinées at the Parkside Theater in San Francisco, Calif., loving the glamour, the clothes, the music, the dancing, and the happy endings. She devoured all of it as "real" life. At age 18, she joined Universal Studios where she would spend the next 14 years, the six last years as Rock Hudson's personal assistant.
She left the "reel" life for the clean fresh air in Aspen and Breckenridge, settling in Dillon in the mid 1960s. As the wildlife dwindled and the roads became more crowded, she purchased a "bungalow" in Saratoga along the North Platte River where a small herd of deer wandered through town and her yard, and where hundreds of birds migrated. She spent time there, again savoring the "real" life. As a movie sage, a Pekinese aficionado, a caregiver, a writer and a friend of many all across the country, hers was a life well lived.
Lois requested that there be no services. In lieu of flowers, take a moment to look up to our beautiful mountains, take a deep breath of fresh air and give her a wave. Please visit Lois's online memorial at http://www.baileykentfuneralhome.com where you can leave a condolence or remembrance of her.
