Earl S. Seahorn

Earl S. Seahorn (90) passed away in Wickenburg, Ariz., on Feb. 2, 2015.

Earl was born, March 11, 1924 in Carbonhill, Alabama, the oldest of eight children born to Ben and Agnes Seahorn.

Early in life the family moved to Wyoming to work in the coal mines and for the Union Pacific Railroad.

During World War II, Earl enlisted in the Navy and served aboard a Naval Battleship in support of troop transport between the southern coast of England and the Beaches of Normandy.

At the end of the war in 1945, Earl met his future wife, Lena Pisano at the VJ-Day celebration in New York City. Following their wedding, the couple traveled to Wyoming and lived in Saratoga for most of their lives.

Shortly after returning to Wyoming, Earl started his own trucking and heavy equipment and construction business. Following the Korean War, he was joined by his brothers and Seahorn Bros. Construction Company was formed.

Much of the excavation and concrete work in the Upper North Platte River Valley was contracted by his construction company over the 60 years of his business. One milestone project in town was the replacement and new construction of the Bridge Street Bridge with all concrete provided by Seahorn Bros. Co.

In addition to his love of heavy construction and the trucking business, Earl enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and continued to be an avid fly fisherman throughout his life. He was especially fond of fishing with a bamboo fly rod and could often be found on the river or a mountain stream with his wicker fish basket in a sling over his shoulder.

In more recent years, Earl and Lee enjoyed the warmer climate of the Southwest and were especially fond of exploring the old mining and ghost towns around Wickenburg.

One of Earl's most memorable experiences was his selection, a few years ago, to join other World War II veterans from Wyoming and Northern Colorado on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He greatly enjoyed visiting with others and sharing war stories from their youth so many years ago!

Earl was also a devout and loyal follower of his Christian faith and a strong believer in the glory of God.

Earl is survived by his wife Lee and six children, Tony (Janet), Peggy (Lonnie), Judy (Tom), Terry, Jeff (Gidget), and Penny (Kelley). He also has seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His surviving brothers and sisters include Bonnie, Art, Argalee, Bill, Patsy, and Claude.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Edrie and Marilyn.

In accordance with Earl's wishes, his body and organs were donated to science.

The family will have a memorial service and celebration of life this summer in Saratoga.

Condolences can be sent to: Lee Seahorn, 610 Jack Burden Road, Desert Cypress Mo. Pk. 35, Wickenburg, AZ 85390
