Make a date with a book

The Saratoga and Encampment Libraries are planning events that have to do with love for the month of February.

“Blind Date with a Book” is planned for the Saratoga Library Feb. 9-12 during regular hours. The library staff is hoping that readers will be ready to fall in love with a new read, since it’s the month for love and have several great books picked out for readers to take on a blind date.

“Book Speed Dating” will take place at both libraries. From 3:15 to 4 p.m., Feb. 10 at the Encampment Library, teens can attend a speed dating session with books. On Feb. 11, the Saratoga Library will hold the “Book Speed Dating” from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

As a part of the “Snowbound? Snow Problem!” program, children age 0-12 will play Hot Potato using a foam snowball. Things really get heated as players must say a winter related word in five seconds, Kendra Graham, Digital Services Coordinator for the Carbon County Library, said. Those who get caught without a word will get “frostbite” and will be out of the game. This event takes place from 11:15 to 12:15 p.m., on Feb. 18.

The monthly book discussion group will meet from 7 to 9 p.m., Feb. 19 at the Encampment Library.

The book being discussed is “I am Pilgrim” by the late Terry Hayes. Call Dawna Martin at 307-327-5775 to reserve your book.
