VSO to host ski/snowshoe outings

The second in a series of evening snowshoe/cross country ski outings organized by the Valley Service Organization (VSO) is 6:30 on Tuesday at Medicine Bow Lodge on WYO 130.

Participants will meet outing coordinator Melanie Fullman at the lodge before setting out on a nighttime hike/ski that should take about 45 minutes to complete.

Following the outing, participants are invited for a post-hike gathering at the Medicine Bow Lodge. There will be complimentary snacks but participants wanting adult beverages must bring their own.

“We thought it would be a great way for both experienced snowshoers and skiers and people who’ve always wanted to try it to go in a group and have some fun together during these winter months,” VSO President Kate Sherrod said.

The VSO is trying to round up some equipment for people who don’t have snowshoes.

Participants are encouraged to bring a head lamp or flashlight since the outings take place after dark.

Subsequent outings are planned as follows:

Jan. 27 – Saratoga Resort Golf Course and Saratoga Resort brewpub after

Feb. 3 – Rendezvous Lodge (trails near Ryan Park) with after gathering at same location

Feb. 10 – Forest Service Brush Creek Work Center and Ten Mile Inn after

Feb. 17 – Bottle Creek Cross Country Trailhead and D’s Bar & Grill, Encampment, after
