Lady Tigers split games

The Lady Tigers of Encampment went into the winter break splitting their four basketball games last week.

Encampment started their week against North Park (Walden, Colo.) in a tight 27-35 loss. No stats were available for the game.

The team then went to Lingle, Wyo. to take on a handful of 1A opponents. The Lady Tigers beat the Lady Oilers of Midwest 31-21. Courtney James (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Konnar Knotwell (10 points, 12 rebounds) put up their first double-doubles of the season.

The Lady Tigers ran into a road block against the Lingle/Fort Laramie Lady Doggers in a 39-46 defeat. Head coach Amy Clay said they had opportunities against the Lady Doggers, but losing the turnover battle was detrimental to their team.

"Lingle was a physical team and we played them tough," Clay said. "We had too many turnovers, but Micaiah Pantle did a great job as did Cassidy Little bringing the ball up the court in the fast break."

Returning All-State performer Little posted her first recorded double-double against Lingle/Fort Laramie with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Little paved the way for a 50-17 rout of Guernsey/Sunrise in the third game of the tournament with 15 points eight assists.

Despite the loss to Lingle/ Fort Laramie, Clay was happy with her team's performance in their first away games of the season.

"I am pleased with the way the team played this weekend," Clay said. "Cheyanne Jordan and Bailey Miller both improved over the weekend. Courtney and Konnar both played great defense and rebounded well. Makayla and Ashlynn also contributed to our success."

The Lady Tigers played this week without their leading scorer Alyssa Barkhurst. Barkhurst is reportedly battling a reccurring injury.

After the break, the Lady Tigers host the Dubois Lady Rams. Tipoff begins at noon.
