Skyline Motors in Rawlins has been in business for more than 40 years, and the new general sales manager is looking for ways to give back to the community.
Eric Dew moved to Saratoga in June, and has been working for Skyline Motors since May.
Dew said he is not sure how Emil Lemich, the owner of Skyline Motors, found him, because he wasn't looking to move from Dexter, Iowa. But Lemich did find him and approached him about coming to Rawlins to work for Skyline Motors.
Dew wanted to do something different. "The car business kind of has a cloud over it," Dew said. "There is a new way to do business in the auto industry."
The car selling business, according to Dew, is becoming more transparent, more open and honest. "That is something that the car business has not been know for," Dew said.
Dew said the customer has tools like the internet to research and that the sales people in the industry need to be using those same tools to be competitive.
Customers are looking at the bigger car dealerships to see what price they have and we need to do the same so people don't leave town to their business, Dew said.
"There is a reason Skyline Motors is here," Dew said. "It is because of the communities in Rawlins and around Rawlins, like Saratoga, Wamsutter and Hanna ... those are our customers."
Dew said Skyline Motors does not have a Taj Mahal building like a lot of the dealerships in big cities and because of that they have a lower overhead.
Dew said that is what he has shown Lemich, that the big dealer groups need to make a certain amount of money to pay for the overhead and that is not the case with Skyline Motors.
With that in mind, Skyline is giving back to the community with donations to Rawlins students who went to Kansas City for a national competition and the Senior Golf Open at Rochelle Golf Course in Rawlins.
Skyline Motors is also working with the Saratoga Football team, Eric said."I spoke with the football coach and told them if there is any equipment like shoes, mouth guards or receiver gloves, that we would be happy to help."
Dew's son Preston is on the Saratoga High School football team and he is starting with them, but he is looking for other organizations that are in need of help, he said.
Dew said he started with football because it is in his blood. Growing up watching the University of Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers, he enjoys football. Although he has never played, his son does and Dew said he believed this was a good place to start in Saratoga.
Since Dew is new to Saratoga, he is still learning about what organizations exist, but welcomes representatives from the organizations to call him at Skyline Motors at 307-324-2282.
Dew added Skyline is not looking for a pat on the back, they are looking to give back to the community.
Dew and his wife grew up in Wisconsin and then lived in Iowa. They were used to a lot of green scenery, trees and where it is not green, there are rows of corn.
Wyoming doesn't offer the greenery that the Midwest does, and when the family decided to move to Wyoming, Lemich suggested the family take a look at Saratoga.
They both liked what they saw and felt it was greener in Saratoga than Rawlins. "My wife fell in love with the town," Dew said.
Dew and his wife, Michele, have four children, Preston, Jenna, who plays volleyball at Saratoga Middle School, Ashton and Teegan.
