Plane crash claims two

Two Casper residents were killed in Saratoga Saturday evening when their plane crashed on a property adjacent to the Saratoga Municipal Airport.

Carbon County Sheriff Jerry Colson said his office received the call concerning the crashed plane around 8:30 a.m., Sunday morning after an individual who was driving on County Rd. 385 saw the plane crash in the distance. Authorities arrived to find the pilot Kenneth Scheoder, 52, and his passenger Janet Kawakami, 54, both diseased. Colson said both died on impact.

The plane had left Casper sometime Saturday and was expected to land in Denver. Colson said there was no report of the plane missing or being overdue before it was discovered crashed Sunday morning.

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration arrived at the crash site around noon Monday to investigate.
