Rakness' donate piano

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, residents played Dominoes with Pat Rust winning. On Monday afternoon, four residents played Yahtzee, with Russell Cox winning. On Wednesday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo. Marion Lansdown, Janet Kennaday, Nadine Caleb, Randy Cross, and Kenny Hoagland won Four Corners. Kenny Hoagland, Truth Karstoft, and Carol Higby won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Lila Worden, Joni Johnson, Gloria Rakness, Dawna Erickson, Sue Bartlett, Elder Richin, and Elder Penaranda. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.

During the evenings, residents watched the Turner Classic Movies. On Tuesday morning, five residents watch the DVD movie, “Code Name: Emerald”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR Movie, “Foreign Correspondent”.

For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, four residents had spaghetti with meat sauce on Monday, and four residents had French dip sandwiches on Friday.

On Sunday morning, four residents played Wii Bowling.

On Sunday afternoon, Doris Davis stood in for Pastor Arlen Hughes. She also played religious music on the keyboard.

On Tuesday morning, Pastor Arlen Hughes of the Abundant Life Fellowship offered Bible Study to three residents.

On Wednesday morning, Georgia Schroer, Merlynn Hoopes, and Kathy McMorrow gave Hair Care to six residents and Nail Care to six residents.

On Thursday morning, residents helped Kathy McMorrow decorate three bulletin boards for September.

On Saturday afternoon, residents enjoyed ice cream sandwiches.

We wish to give a big thanks to Richard and Gloria Rakness for donating a piano for our renovated area in the dining room that will be a new resident lounge area.

The Activities program relies on the assistance of volunteers to enhance the lives of residents. If interested in being a volunteer, pleas call Tom Mansfield, Activity Director, at 326-8212.
