Serving the Platte Valley since 1888
Janis Irene Soldan, 82, of Saratoga, and formerly of Lusk, Wyo., passed away on July 2, 2014 in Loveland, Colo. Jan was born in Lusk on Nov. 10, 1931 to William D. Miller and Ruth (Kistler) Miller. Jan grew up in Lusk and graduated from Niobrara County High School. She attended the University of Wyoming where she was a Pi Beta Phi and later worked as assistant vice-president for United Bank of Denver until her retirement.
Jan moved to Saratoga in 2000. She was truly a remarkable and wonderful woman. She was an exceptional role model to all who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a wonderful friend. She always had a positive outlook on life, a smile that could light up the room and a sense of humor that everyone loved. She lived her life in the truth of love; not seeking to teach but to enrich. She did not proclaim herself with a loud voice, but lived her life in the subtle realms of loving. She saluted all her family from the past who blazoned the path and paid the price. She dedicated her life to the silent loving of her children and neighbor whilst carrying on with her life’s journey, however exalted or humble.
Jan enjoyed volunteering at the Saratoga Museum and loved researching her family lineage.
She is survived by her son Dietz Berryman and his wife Marte, of Castle Rock, Colo; daughter Kathleen Berryman, of San Diego, Calif. and step-daughters Darcie Soldan McKenna, of Reading, Mass. and Kara Soldan Perlmutter, of Denver, Colo.
She was blessed with two grandchildren, Michelle Berryman Davis and Drew Berryman and their respective spouses John Davis and Cyrstal Berryman. She was also graced with three great-grandchilren, Cailyn, Hanna and Lydia.
Internment will be in Saratoga on Saturday, July 12 at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held to honor Jan.
