Saratoga Museum to host C.J. Box Trivia Night

Fans of C.J. Box and his Joe Pickett series will get a chance to test their knowledge Friday night at the Saratoga Museum’s fundraiser “Who is Joe Pickett?” The event kicks off with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m., following by dinner and a trivia night on the Joe Pickett series.

People who do not have teams, can sign up as individuals and will be added to a team, Saratoga Museum Board president Liz Wood said.

The fundraiser includes a meal of a pulled pork sandwich in JD BBQ sauce, Slim’s baked beans, creamy slaw and potato chips served by The Bear Trap Cafe, of Riverside.

Auction items include carved UW figures from the Bear Trap, Bear Trap t-shirt and ball cap; gift certificate from Bellas, two prime rib dinners from The Wolf Hotel, a necklace and earring set from Laura M, a gift certificate from Hat Creek, a C.J. Box pictorial hanging by

Carol Randall, a gift certificates from Lollypops and prizes from Shively Hardware and The Flower Pot.

A chance to have your name in one of Box’s books will also be auctioned off. Box will be at the event to clarify answers in the trivia competition.

C.J. Box began his career as a writer at the Saratoga Sun. He was hired by former Saratoga Sun owner Dick Perue in 1981, and Box still draws on experiences from his years in the Platte Valley. Box worked at the Sun for thee-and-one-half years before moving on to become the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce director.

Box, who has returned to the Platte Valley as a part-time resident, debuted at No. 3 the New York Times Best Seller’s list with his newest book in the Joe Pickett series “Stone Cold”.

Pickett is a Wyoming Game Warden and manages to get himself in and out of trouble in each of the 14 books written by Box. Fans of Box’s books only have one complaint — he doesn’t write more books. In the last four years, he has released four Joe Pickett books and four stand alone novels.

Prizes will be awarded to the team that knows the most about Pickett and his perils, family, friends and enemies.

Tickets are $20 per person and includes the meal. If people are not interested in competing, they can still come and enjoy the meals, bid at the auction and watch the fun as competitors vie for the braggin’ rights of knowing the most about Joe Pickett.
