Serving the Platte Valley since 1888
The American Legion Auxiliary met May 20, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Post Home.
Members were informed that Deb Clark would need desserts and salads for upcoming events: Memorial Day Lunch May 26, the River Raft Poker Run and Chicken Burn June 28, the Fire Department Benefit June 21, possibly a meal for the Wounded Warriors Event on June 27 and a meal after the parade on July 4. Sign up sheets will be at Post Home.
Membership stands at 86, so if anyone still owes dues for the 2013-2014 year, we would like to receive it soon so we can meet our goal by the Department Convention June 26-29, 2014.
It was decided that unit 54 would sponsor two girls to Girls State, if there are two girls prepared to attend, but in financial help.
Officers were elected for the 2014-2015 year. There are as follows: Fran Payne-Rogers, President; Kathleen Martin, Vice President; Cheryl St. Amour, Chaplain; Karen Lebeda, Historian; Mandy Cooper, Sergeant at Arms; Nellie Wood, Reporter.
Committees and delegates to the Department Convention were appointed.
It was decided to not hold meetings in June or July, but to meet August 19, 2014 to make plans for our flea market and slave auction to be held in September.
Kathleen Martin volunteered to be the representative from the Auxiliary to help with the planning of the River Raft Poker Run to be held on June 28 by the Legion Family.
