Residents enjoy games and movies

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, five residents played Dominoes, with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Tuesday morning, six residents played Yahtzee with Dora Martin winning.

On Wednesday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo, and Friday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo. Dora Martin, Pat Rust, Elaine Burge, and Truth Karstoft won Four Corners. Nadine Caleb, Truth Karstoft, and Elaine Burge won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Lila Worden, Joannie Johnson, Dawna Erickson, Elder Ramirez, Elder Christian, Elder Franz, and Gloria Rakness.

On Thursday afternoon, seven residents played Dominoes with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.

During evening every day, residents watched the Turner Classic Movies Channel on television. On Sunday morning, five residents watch the VCR movie, “The War Wagon”. On Tuesday afternoon, five residents watched the VCR movie, “The Thin Man”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “The Black Stallion”.

On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Scott Stinson of the Saratoga Missionary Alliance Church led at our church service. Doris Davis assisted on the keyboard and Joe Gaspari was the hymn leader.

On Monday morning, nine residents attended Resident Council under the leadership of President Randy Cross, discussing concerns about living at the facility. On Monday afternoon, five residents went to the graveside service for Jim Davis with Pastor Gene Smith officiating.

On Tuesday morning, Reverend Helen Young offered Bible Study to three residents.

On Wednesday morning, Lynda Healy,Georgia Schroer, and Janice Kerpan gave Hair Care to nine residents and Nail Care to 12.

For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center on Friday, four residents had tuna salad sandwiches.
