VSO to host awards program

The Valley Service Organization (VSO) will be hosting its annual awards program at noon Thursday at the Hotel Wolf’s Saratoga Room.

Each year, the VSO accepts nominations for Women of Distinction and the Youth Citizenship Award in the early spring, and announces the winners at its May meeting. The honor recognizes women who have made substantial and meaningful contributions to any or all of the communities of the Upper North Platte River Valley over the years, Carol Sherrod, VSO member said.

The Youth Citizenship Award recipient wins a $500 award, which is not a scholarship and can be used by the recipient in any fashion they choose. The annual award recognizes students for outstanding awareness of the meaning and importance of good citizenship and volunteerism.

The public is invited to attend the award program.
