In their last back-to-back track meets before regionals, several Saratoga High School athletes qualified for state after earning top times and placings.
At Saturday’s Shane Brock Invite in Lander, Cameron Collamer, Andrew Oiler, the boys’ 400 meter relay team and the boys’ 1600 meter relay team all qualified for the state tournament in Casper, which takes place May 22-24. Last Friday, Collamer, Seth Harrison, Hunter Mason, Oiler and the boys’ 1600 meter relay team qualified for state after competing at the Thermopolis Invite.
Head coach Rex Hohnholt said he is excited for the Panthers’ upcoming regional meet, which takes place Friday and Saturday in Torrington.
“We saw some really good end-of-season performances, and have some options of what we can be doing at regionals,” he said. “We have a pretty good picture of what our kids can do, and we just need to be in the best situation we can be in to score for our teams and individually.”
Hohnholt said four in each individual event may compete at regionals, in addition to one relay team per relay category. He said he was to eager to see how his Panthers compete against statewide competitors.
“This will be their opportunity to shine,” Hohnholt said. “We’re excited to head into regionals and see where our kids stack up against others in the state. We’re really looking forward to it, and it’s going to be like a chess game now.”
