Presbyterian women to meet in Saratoga

“Reaching Out and Gathering In” is the theme of a state-wide Spring Gathering of the Wyoming Presbyterian Women’s organization to be held this weekend, April 24-26, at the First Presbyterian Church in Saratoga.

The three-day session will open Thursday evening with registration and a business meeting at the local Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at the corner of Bridge and Third Streets. Friday will feature meetings, fellowship and prayer, concluding with a worship service conducted by the Rev. Helen Young, pastor of the Saratoga Presbyterian Church. Saturday’s session will conclude at noon with lunch, either to be eaten here or to be taken on the road for those who travel Wyoming’s long distances.

Local host is the Encampment/Saratoga Presbyterian Women, chaired by Vickie Drain of Encampment and Frances Kirby of Saratoga. All Presbyterian women are welcome to attend all or part of the services.

According to a news release from the Presbyterian Women of Wyoming group, “Featured speakers include the Rev. Libby Hugus, an educator for 1001 Worshipping Communities; Rachel Yates, “Church Support Associate, West” from the Presbyterian Mission Agency; and the Rev. Steve Shive, Wyoming General Presbyter.

“Libby Tedder Hugus is the daughter of two continents: Africa and North America. She now lives with her husband, Jeremy, in Casper, where they follow God in starting a new missional community on the windy western frontier. She is a graduate of Nazarene Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity and loves to preach, teach, write and shepherd in pursuit of God’s reconciliation mission.

“Rachel works for the Presbyterian Mission Agency and will share information about our Mission co-workers around the world. She will include how we can form partnerships with them.

“The Rev. Shive will introduce the members to the 2014-2015 bible study Reconciling Paul: A Contemporary Study of 2 Corinthians by Elizabeth Hinson-Hasty. Pastor Young will lead us in worship.”
