County commissioners to hold state conference in Saratoga

Saratoga will once again host Wyoming legislatures from all over the state at the Wyoming County Commissioners Spring meeting.

Taking place at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC), over 90 county commissioners throughout the state are expected to attend meeting to discuss a variety issues in the state.

Carbon County Commissioner Sue Jones said that hosting the event in Saratoga was a popular decision among state commissioners

“We just offered to host the Spring Meeting this year and there was no opposition from anyone else,” Jones said.

“It is an honor to host this event,” she added.

Jones said the PVCC played a large role in hosting the meeting.

“People want to come to Saratoga,” Jones said. “We have the community center which is a great facility for things like this.”

On the agenda for the three-day meeting are discussions on taxation, changes with the Wyoming Department of Health and several guest speakers.

Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead plans to attend the meeting Thursday afternoon.

New to the spring meeting this year will be the gathering of the Women of County Commissioners Association. That meeting will take place on Friday morning.

But it won’t be all work for the commissioners this week. Thursday at 6 p.m., there will be a banquet where legislators will recognize their colleagues.

Jones said that she encourages anyone to attend any part of the meeting.

“It’s going to be open to the public,” Jones said. “Nothing is going to be closed off.”
