At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.
The ladies at the facility place a high priority on being able to have their hair done nicely—whether permed or cut. We are fortunate to have a licensed hairdresser who comes about once a month. She is Kerri Thrasher from Hanna, who has been licensed for over 22 years as a beautician.
Her rapport with the ladies needing her services is excellent. Besides having the gift of “gab” which is historically important at beauty salons, she has a great sense of humor and always has a smile for everyone. We are, indeed, lucky to have her.
Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. Residents played Dominoes on Sunday afternoon and Tuesday morning, as well as Yahtzee on Monday afternoon. On Wednesday and Friday afternoons, residents played Bingo. Nadine Caleb, Charlotte Gibbons, Truth Karstoft, and Elaine Burge won Four Corners. Pat Rust and Carol Higby won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Lila Worden, Joy Hamilton, Dawna Erickson, , Linsay Wade, and Gloria Rakness, with Gloria Rakness calling on Wednesday.
During the evenings throughout the week, residents watched the Turner Classic Movie channel.
On Sunday morning, eight residents watched the VCR movie, “The Fighting Seabees”. On Tuesday afternoon, five residents watched the VCR movie, “The Night of the Grizzly”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “Hot Lead and Cold Feet”.
For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center on Friday, four residents had baked fish. On Sunday afternoon, Ken Kreusal of the Encampment Presbyterian Church led our church service. His wife, Becky, assisted on the keyboard.
On Tuesday, Nadine Brown of the Platte Valley Christian Center offered Bible Study to five residents. On Wednesday morning, Georgia Schroer and Merlynn Hoopes gave Hair Care to seven ladies and Nail Care to eight residents.
On Thursday afternoon, seven residents filled 500 plastic eggs with candy for the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt. We wish to thank Tim Lamprecht from Valley Foods for the kind donation of candy for the plastic eggs.
We wish to thank the Rebekah Lodge for the kind financial donation to Bingo.
