Serving the Platte Valley since 1888
The Encampment Town Council approved $50 for Encampment’s Jr./Sr. Prom for their March 29 post-prom activities.
Council member Doreen Harvey said 2014 was a productive year for the Sierra Madre Winter Carnival. She said a new chairperson for the three-day winter festival, which has been going strong locally since 1988, would need to be put into place this summer.
“They wound up with a $57.93 surplus budget after all the events, and we had great participation,” Harvey said. “Susan Munson is resigning as winter carnival chair, but we can discuss that at a later date. We’ll need to try and get a new chair in her place by July.”
Encampment Police Chief Grayling Wachsmuth asked for permission to attend the Chief’s and Sheriff’s Association Conference in Casper April 29 and 30. The council approved $185, for the event and lodging, to be taken from the police budget.
Harvey asked if the computer she used at town hall could be replaced. She said she was having problems with the computer, which was purchased in 2006.
“There’s not much we can do about it, since technology wears out,” she said. “The computer I use in the town hall has an XP operating system, and it’s no longer going to be supported. I would like permission to spend up to $800 on a replacement with enough memory and capacity to take over for that other Lenovo computer too. I’d like to have something for in case that other computer crashes, we can get it up and going right away.”
The council approved up to $800 to go toward a new computer for Encampment Town Hall.
Encampment’s next Town Council meeting will be at 7 p.m., April 10 at Encampment Town Hall.
