The Saratoga Town Council held their regularly scheduled meeting on March 4.
Town Engineer Chuck Bartlett discussed plans to re-stripe the parking lines downtown. The parking lines on Bridge Street are currently faded, making it difficult for patrons to park at local business.
The last time the parking lines were striped was 2012. Bartlett said that they should be striped “every year.”
Councilwoman Judy Welton said that it might be a worthwhile to invest more into a striping product that will last longer.
“Well really, it doesn’t do us a whole lot of good to keep striping it,” Welton said.
Bartlett said that using the same product the highway department uses will last longer, but would cost the town substantially more to buy.
The Platte Valley Upper Solid Waste District said that they will not hold their monthly meeting in March as they “lacked of a quorum.” Richard Hodges also said people must go to Rawlins if they want to recycle glass.
When former town treasurer Joe Elder took his new position as the Executive Director at the Platte Valley Community Center, the vacancy left the Town of Saratoga without a treasurer.
In a phone interview, Mayor John Zeiger said that the town has not yet received any letters of interest for treasurer.
Zeiger said that Saratoga Town Clerk Suzie Cox and assistant clerk/receptionist Jonathon Moore will be splitting the duties of town treasurer until the position is filled.
“We need somebody right away,” Zeiger said.
The town of Saratoga previously without a town treasurer from October 2012 to January 2013.
The next town council meeting will be 6 p.m. on March 18, at Saratoga Town Hall.
