At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents' interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.
On Friday afternoon before Bingo, we had the crowning of Valentine King and Queen. Winning the vote were Helen Schmitt and Sam Kelly. The Queen received flowers, candy, and a Valentine helium balloon. The King received a Valentine teddy bear, candy, and a Valentine helium balloon. A Valentine cake was served to everyone.
Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, five residents played Dominoes with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Tuesday morning, four residents elected to play Yahtzee with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Wednesday afternoon, 11 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo. Frank Jereb, Kenny Hoagland, and Pat Rust won Four Corners. Janet Kennaday and Carol Higby won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Lila Worden, Joy Hamilton, Elder Alameda, Elder Blackham, and Gloria Rakness, with Gloria Rakness calling on Wednesday.
Throughout the week each evening, residents enjoyed watching the Turner Classic Movies channel. On Tuesday afternoon, six residents watched the VCR movie, "Mrs. Doubtfire".
Every morning before breakfast, residents heard the news from Casper Star Tribune, the Saratoga Sun, and the Rawlins Daily Times.
For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, on Monday two residents had hearty chili, and on Friday three residents had chicken fried steak.
On Sunday afternoon, Doris David stood in for Pastor Gene Smith of the Platte Valley Christian Center and led our church service. She also offered traditional religious music on the keyboard.
On Monday afternoon, nine residents met for Resident Council under the leadership of President Randy Cross, discussing concerns about living at the facility.
On Wednesday morning, Merlynn Hoopes and Lynda Healey gave Hair Care to seven ladies and did the nails of four residents.
We are in the need of small Bingo prizes, including small stuffed animals. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
