Allen Roy "Al" Beck, 72, passed away Sunday Jan. 26, 2014 at the Rawlins Memorial Hospital from heart complications with his wife and family by his side. Al was born Oct. 25, 1941 in Blackduck Mountain to John and Grace (Elizabeth) Beck. He spent most of his childhood in Minnesota, moving from there to Utah, and Wyoming. He was married to Lois Thompson, they had one son Allen Beck Jr., born Dec. 3, 1970. After he divorced Lois, he moved to Wyoming where he met and married Geraldine Herring/Smith, on May 11, 1973 in Encampment. They moved to several places in the Wyoming area, but chose to make their permanent home in Encampment around their family and friends and the mountains they loved.
Al drove truck most of his life working for numerous companies. He also logged and did road construction. He also owned his own trucking company, "Beck Trucking", hauling logs, and doing oil field work. After many years doing this, he retired in 2006.
Al loved to go to the mountains, enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping and boating and being with family and friends. He was most remembered for his unique talent of playing pool. He was very gifted at the game, and was always willing to share his knowledge and enjoyment of the game with other pool players.
Al was the fifth child in a family of seven children. He is survived by his Geraldine "Peaches", his step-children Jack Roberts (Annie), Cyndi Sifford (Ron, their children and grandchildren). Also by one brother John (Mary), two sisters, Doris Nelson and Connie Pemble and many nieces and nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, one brother, Wayne, and two sisters, Fran and her husband Ernie Johnson, Mary and her husband Ray Eldard, and his son Allen Jr., along with his brother in laws Lorenz Nelson, and Pete Pemble and four nephews that he loved dearly.
Al will be in our hearts and remembered by his family and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
